Co-Designing the Future with Youth Leadership

After the buzz of the film premiere, the work continued. In early 2024, we held a workshop with young people to shape what comes next—not just in one project, but across our whole approach.

This wasn’t a debrief. It was a design session.

We explored what young people need to stay involved, to feel ownership, and to take action on the things they care about—from mental health to housing to social spaces.

“Young people can spot a token gesture a mile off,” one attendee said. “If we’re going to do this, let’s do it properly.”

We used tools from our wider sense-making process—mapping, storytelling, and play—to dig into the barriers and the possibilities.

The outcome? A clearer roadmap for embedding youth voice not just in events or one-off projects, but in the way decisions are made across Plymouth.

This is how we build a city that belongs to everyone—from the ground up, together.
