Hope in The Heart Exhibition Spring 2022
Hope in the Heart brought together artists with lived experience of poor mental health to share their thoughts in a reflective way with professionals. It was one of our first attempts at bringing different people into the room together.
Some of the feedback was captured on the back of postcards like this one:
Thoughtful and thankful. I came to explore topics professionally but have taken away so much personally… Which will ultimately help me professionally too. There are tools to try and work with leaders in power to recognise their virtues and how their roles can make/design valued services or societies.
Guilt around not being able to make the difference that is needed as it requires contribution from all and feel something different needs to be done. The answers are with the people. Frustration but also confidence to push wider networks that I influence to take a listening approach. Push agenda for listening to lived experience. Learn more about the people I serve.
Happy! It’s heartening to meet so many others who are putting the trauma needs of others at the forefront. Thank you.
Moved and inspired in the most extraordinary way. I was able to leave my ‘professional’ identity at the door and interact with others in a truly human way. I have learned so much in such a short space of time.
Happy to be around people who care about making life better for themselves and others—through compassionate listening to others' stories and thinking of ways to make changes in the way we do things in society. Feeling grateful for this opportunity.
