Maximizing Filming Days Beyond Footage
On 13 June 2023, Karen reminded us of something special: our upcoming filming days weren’t just about cameras—they were about connection.
“We have some interest from people in high places and low places,” she wrote. The goal wasn’t just to create content for the King’s Fund—it was to gather people who rarely cross paths.
The team worked hard to ensure the two days of filming (27–28 June) would be relational, not performative. We reached out to folks who hadn’t had time to meet yet, hoping to spark new connections alongside the storytelling.
In planning it, we found ourselves asking: how do you capture the spirit of a project like Belong in Plymouth? You can’t script it. But you can make space for the real stuff to surface.
The filming became more than a project milestone. It became a moment of visibility—for the work, for the relationships, and for the values we’re trying to live.
Belonging, after all, isn’t just what you say. It’s what shows up on camera when people feel safe enough to be themselves.
