Health is Wealth

Health is Wealth is an ongoing project to bring healthcare and conversations about health directly into Stonehouse, a neighbourhood of Plymouth experiencing marginalisation and health inequalities.

Health is Wealth

Talking about health isn’t always easy. In some communities, certain topics—like cancer, mental health, or chronic illness—can still feel uncomfortable or even taboo. These silences often stem from a mix of cultural norms, lived experience, and historical mistrust of healthcare systems. That’s exactly why Health Is Wealth exists.
A Belong in Plymouth project run by Diversity Business Incubator CIC, Health Is Wealth creates space for open, honest conversations about health and wellbeing in a welcoming, community setting.
Events take place monthly at the Jabulani Food Court, and while booking is available via Eventbrite, attendance is never limited to those who sign up. Many people simply drop in on the day—some planned to, others happen to be there already.
This work is taking exciting steps forwards as DBI inch forwards in creating a health hub next door to the Plot on Union Street which is the location for Jabulani. The idea of a health hub outdoors (the space is a vast hole between buildings on Union Street) is a rare chance to have the sky as the ceiling in a deeply urban setting.
